Begin with the setting
Tomatoes need sun and warmth. Transplant after frost risk has passed and soil has warmed. Choose a plant that suits your available space.
Prepare before the plant grows
Put support in place at planting. Aim for consistent root-zone moisture rather than repeated swings between very wet and very dry.
Make it your own
Write down the variety, planting date and where the plant receives light. Compare your notes with the plant over time rather than copying a distant garden’s calendar.
